MAXIMA

Maxima to Participate in the 13th IEEE International Conference on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPEi 2024)

Maxima will participate in the 13th IEEE International Conference and Exposition on Electrical and Power Engineering (EPEi 2024), set to take place from October 17-19th, 2024. The conference, a prestigious gathering of industry leaders and academic experts in the field of electrical and power engineering, will be held in Iași, Romania.

Maxima will be represented by Bogdan Butnariu, from the Department of Electrical Machines and Drives at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and Abderrahmane Rebhaoui, from Nidec PSA Emotors SAS, France. Together, they will present their conference paper, titled «Design of an Axial Flux Machine with Distributed Winding for Automotive Applications: A Comparison of Different Rotor Structures.»

The paper addresses pressing environmental concerns, specifically the impact of CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion in the energy and transportation sectors. It focuses on the rising demand for electric vehicles (EVs) as the  pushes toward more efficient propulsion methods. The research examines the advantages of axial flux machines over traditional radial flux machines, with a focus on their superior power density, efficiency, and modularity.

In the case study presented, the authors compare three different rotor structures in an axial flux permanent magnet machine with a double rotor and distributed winding structure. This comparison seeks to highlight the performance differences and potential benefits in terms of torque-speed, efficiency, and manufacturability.

Stay tuned for insights and findings from this groundbreaking research, which could help shape the future of electric mobility!
